Thanks for posting, It's something I've been looking at doing.. Course I need to buy a dehydrator first !!
How long do the Fruit,Veggies and jerky store safely for before having to use up ? |
Re: Some other dehydrating Pictorials...
Jerky is good for a year or two. I'm gonna try making chili out of some of mine. I heard the cowboys used to make chili out of jerky all the time, so it can't be too bad. Can't say I've seen a recipe, though.

Perhaps recanning the dehydrated sauce would ensure freshness for a matter of years. Kinda like canning tobacco. Waddaya think?

Re: Some other dehydrating Pictorials...
Our personal storage is like this...
Apple and Pear slices in ziplock bags, opened constantly- One year. Tomatoes in plastic containers with an oxygen absorber-3 years, excellent condition Various flakes and powders in glass spice jars-excellent in 2-3 years so far Then I have various veggies in sealed 5 gallon buckets, still sealed so I dont know, expect them to be doing just as well as the tomatoes. Things that dehydrate into a hard form, sealed either with a vacuum or oxygen absorber-10-15 years. |
